Maynonnaise and coffee......

I'll be the first to say I hate these email chain letters, but a friend of mine has been called to go serve some time in the Gulf War. He has always been there for me and he if the Godfather to my first born. My thoughts and prayers are with him ......

When things in your life seem
almost too much to handle,
when 24 Hours in a day is not enough,
remember the mayonnaise jar
and 2 cups of coffee.
A professor stood before his philosophy class
and had some items in front of him.
When the class began, wordlessly,
he picked up a very large
and empty mayonnaise jar
and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.
He then asked the students
if the jar was full.
They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and
poured them
into the jar.
He shook the jar lightly.
The pebbles rolled into the open
areas between the golf balls.
He then asked
the students again
if the jar was full..
They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand
and poured it into the jar.
Of course, the sand filled up everything else.
He asked once more if the jar was full.
The students responded
with an unanimous
"yes."
The professor then produced
two cups of coffee from under the table
And poured the entire contents
into the jar, effectively
filling the Empty space between the sand.
The students laughed.
"Now," said the professor,
as the laughter subsided,
"I want you to recognize that
this jar represents your life.
The golf balls are the important things -
God, family, children, health,
friends, and Favorite passions --
things that if everything else was lost
and only they remained,
your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the other things that matter
like your job, house, and car.
The sand is everything else --
the small stuff.
"If you put the sand into the jar first,"
he continued,
"there is no room for
the pebbles or the golf balls.
The same goes for life.
If you spend all your time
and energy on the small stuff,
you will never have room for
the things that are
important to you.
So...
Pay attention to the things
that are critical to your happiness.
Play With your children.
Take time to get medical checkups.
Take your partner out to dinner.
Play another 18.
There will always be time
to clean the house
and fix the disposal.
"Take care of the golf balls first --
the things that really matter.
Set your priorities.
The rest is just sand."
One of the students raised her hand
and inquired what the coffee represented.
The professor smiled.
"I'm glad you asked".
It just goes to show you that no matter how full
your life may
seem, there's always room for
a couple of cups of coffee with a friend."

10 easy wasy...

I found this on line and I think it speaks volumes....

Fascist America, in 10 easy steps
Naomi Wolf wrote an essay about the ten steps a corrupt government takes to
create a fascist state, and provides examples of what the Bush
administration is doing to fulfill the requirements of each step. Some of
Wolf's examples are quite a stretch, but others are spot on.

1 Invoke a terrifying internal and external enemy

2 Create a gulag

3 Develop a thug caste

4 Set up an internal surveillance system

5 Harass citizens' groups

6 Engage in arbitrary detention and release

7 Target key individuals

8 Control the press

9 Dissent equals treason

10 Suspend the rule of law

It is a mistake to think that early in a fascist shift you see the profile
of barbed wire against the sky. In the early days, things look normal on
the surface; peasants were celebrating harvest festivals in Calabria in
1922; people were shopping and going to the movies in Berlin in 1931. Early
on, as WH Auden put it, the horror is always elsewhere - while someone is
being tortured, children are skating, ships are sailing: "dogs go on with
their doggy life ... How everything turns away/ Quite leisurely from the
disaster."

As Americans turn away quite leisurely, keeping tuned to internet shopping
and American Idol, the foundations of democracy are being fatally corroded.
Something has changed profoundly that weakens us unprecedentedly: our
democratic traditions, independent judiciary and free press do their work
today in a context in which we are "at war" in a "long war" - a war without
end, on a battlefield described as the globe, in a context that gives the
president - without US citizens realizing it yet - the power over US
citizens of freedom or long solitary incarceration, on his say-so alone.

Rut...

I was holding back on writing to see if any thing new was going on in my life. Well not so much ; work, home, kids and back to work. Its been cold being outside selling cars, but work has been very good to me. I thank God everyday that I have a good job. I feel old as of late. My bones have been creeking esp my spine. I really goofed it up 20 years ago by falling down some stairs. I'm glad tha I can walk ,but some days it feels like their is a metal rod in there. Other times it feels hot like I have an ember inside. Anyways I'm trying out for a management position again with the comapny. This may or may not effect where I live and work. There is always expansion of I'm willing to move - think Nebraska or Kaqnsas. But I don't think I want to go that route. Is it cheaper.... yea I could almost buy twice the house or land for alot less money.... ANy ways those are the latest things going on in my head and life. Peace
